Eyewear and Accessories Division Liaison

The Vision Council, headquartered in Alexandria, VA, represents the manufacturers and suppliers of the optical industry, and acts as the representative for vision care products and services. We position our members to be successful in a competitive marketplace through education, advocacy, consumer outreach, strategic relationship building and industry forums.
We are currently seeking an Eyewear and Accessories (E&A) Division Liaison to join our team. Ths position will be responsible for interacting with the Eyewear and Accessories Division and its individual members to understand their unique perspective and issues and work with them in developing and executing programs and solutions to their issues.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact, managing all E&A Division-related activities and operations of the committees and task forces.
  • Develop a coordinated strategy and work plan to increase the level of coordination and partnership with allied organizations as needed.
  • Monitor TVC's Statistics Committee and coordinate/report to Division those projects and deliverables related to and benefiting TVC's E&A Division.
  • In conjunction with the Market Research Team, be an authoritative source on statistical data and information related to the frame industry for the organization.
  • Coordinate and proactively address current and new E&A related issues with the division chair for presentation to the division and members.
  • Work closely with the chairperson of the division, keeping them well-informed of all happenings pertaining to the division and its members
  • Develop meeting agendas with the chairperson for the 2 or more annual E&A meetings
  • Strategize with the chairperson on how to steer the division and what it provides its members.
  • Regularly contact and visit E&A companies to determine satisfaction and make recommendations for improving TVC E&A related services and creating new member services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing E&A division members to ensure a clear exchange of information and ideas related to the E&A division membership and deliverables. Ensure members are knowledgeable and maximizing benefits and services provided them.
  • Develop annual division goals and objectives and assure completion of Division Action Plan. Schedule and attend regular meeting and ad hoc meetings and teleconferences of the divisions and their task forces.
  • Prepare meeting and teleconference summaries. Maintain division, committee and taskforce meeting summary history.
  • Work closely with TVC staff to promote and coordinate TVC programs to the E&A Division Members.
  • Proactively solicit new issues pertaining to the E&A Division and bring these issues to the attention of appropriate parties for action.
  • Actively solicit E&A companies to join TVC as member and or renew their membership.
  • Work to ensure that E&A division member companies renew their TVC membership.
  • Work in conjunction with the VP of Member Relations and Membership Manager to develop and plan recruitment strategies and measures of success in membership campaigns.
  • Attend appropriate committee meetings to help communicate the issues/outcomes to the division.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director, Division Chair and Technical Leadership to represent the E&A members and their positions including but not limited to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Standards Organizations (ISO) meetings and forums.
  • Support the technical response to FDA, OSHA, or other agencies on various issues as they arise.
  • Support Production of a reporting on member Services activities for the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of related experience preferred.
  • Industry experience in an eyewear company setting.
  • Leadership experience with progressively broader responsibilities, including management of complex projects, cross functional teams and customer relations.
  • Experience in financial management.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
