Due to our growth, we currently have 2 new opportunities. One Optician needed at our Aurora location and one Optician needed at our LoDo location.
Basic Responsibilities
· Demonstrates the ability to interpret and dispense a prescription using appropriate lenses and frames or mounts.
· Dispenses and advises on a wide range of lenses and frames, taking into account the patient's needs and requirements.
· Demonstrates the ability to fit, adjust and repair patient glasses; including the identification of current and obsolete frame materials in order to consider and apply their properties when handling, adjusting, repairing and dispensing.
· Demonstrates competency in performing the following skills: manual lensometry (including prism, add power, and lens material), transcribing prescriptions, pupillometer, seg height, visio, tracer, and calculating vertex distance.
· This employee has taken an active role in ensuring accuracy of inventory by participating in the purchasing of current inventory.
· This employee maintains, understands and reconciles all invoices in a time sensitive matter.
Job duties
· Processes sales of frames and lenses Complies consistently with the cash handling policies.
· Assists customers with choosing eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to customer's prescription, lifestyle, and personal requests.
· Measures customer's eyes for pupillary distance and determines bifocal/multifocal placement if needed. Fits and adjusts lenses to eyeglass frames. Dispenses eyeglasses.
· Is extremely organized and follows department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, merchandising and inventory storage. Keeps the optical dispensary clean, orderly, and hazard free.
Requirements
· 5 years of optician experience
· Certification by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) is required within 6 months of start of employment
Preferred
· Bachelor's Degree
· 10 years of optician experience
