Vietnam era Randolph engineering aviators

jeudi 3 septembre 2015

I had a patient come in today with some Vietnam era Randolph Engineering aviators. He was wondering what the history was. He suspected they were used by helicopter pilots during the war.
The unique thing about them is that they had an extremely blue tint, similar to toilet bowl cleaner ( although a lot more appealing). The lenses appeared to be glass and were plano.

He was wondering if the frame was gold. I know that RE did make some 12 karat gold frames matching this description at the time.

I know my descriptions are vague, but I was wondering if anyone might know something of this? Both the patient and I are curious.

Many thanks.
